Match Report : SPRFC Women 1XV 34 – 22 Olney

Stockwood Park Women maintain 3rd spot following a solid victory against a determined and resilient Olney Ladies RFC as they look to chase down Bletchley in 2nd. With Olney having a couple of withdrawals due to illness on the day they travelled with 13, Park lent a couple to maintain a 15 a-side match. Park had the advantage of territory early in the game but were unable to convert it into points, eventually the Olney defence was breached and Park scored the first try of the game in front of a very decent crowd in the afternoon sunshine.

A further try each saw the half time score go to 10-5. Park were not firing on all cylinders in the first half but came out all guns blazing in the second period to go over a couple of times early on and stretch the lead.

Olney were not ones for giving in though and the two teams continued to trade scores right up until the end, with Stockwood’s burst of points early in the half proving the deciding factor.

Congratulations go to try scorers Georgia Black, Tracey Leach, a very ill Faye Anderson and hat-trick starlet Sophie Edmunds, with conversions from Alice Clarke  (2). Be under no illusion that this was a real team effort with everyone single player ensuring a great win for the Park.

Anyone interested in joining this wonderful side, be it experienced players or playing for the first time are very welcome to attend training at London Road on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:00
