Match Report: SPRFC 1XV 34 – 0 St Ives

On a cold and wet afternoon, on a glue pot of a pitch and in front of a crowd of over 100 of their former players attending a pre match lunch, Stockwood Park RFC continued their rich run of league form with a comprehensive victory over a committed and previously unbeaten  St  Ives RFC by 34- 0.

This was a team performance at it’s best as Park’s forwards went toe to toe with their opposite numbers and controlled much of the set play and forward exchanges while Park’s backs handled the greasy ball with great skill in difficult conditions. Park scored 4 trys to secure their try bonus point and could  have scored more but for determined defence from the visitors.  Tight Head Prop Mark Smith had an outstanding game in the forwards while Park’s half backs, Skipper and Scrum Half Frank Daly and man of the match Fly Half Sean Martyn controlled the game.

Park took an early 3-0 lead with a well struck penalty  from centre Nick Dundee.  Dundee continued to have an excellent afternoon off the kicking tee, adding one more penalty and converting all four trys to give him a personal tally of 14 points.

Park moved further ahead with a well worked try scored by left wing Angus Buckman, converted by Dundee who also added his second penalty to give Park a 13-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half as the rain increased, Park’s excellent forwards. With Hooker Thulani Dhilwayo prominent,  created a driving try for No 8 Aaron Beattie with Angus Buckman and Centre Jordan Fadoju both adding trys.   Fadoju was always a threat with his running in midfield.

Nick Dundee added the extras to all 3 trys to give Park an impressive victory by 34-0

Next Saturday Park visit old rivals Leighton Buzzard RFC who are currently  unbeaten and league leaders.
