On an afternoon for Club records, glorious weather and a huge crowd, Stockwood Park completed their league programme with a record breaking 110 -7 victory over Brackley. This was the highest league score in Park’s league history and was supported by an outstanding individual performance by Park’s player of the season, Centre Nick Dundee. Dundee scored a record breaking 45 points himself with a Hatrick of trys and 30 points from 15 conversions. He was in majestic form off the tee.
Brackley struggled from the start as Park’s forwards provided their prolific backs with a constant supply of good ball and although the possibility of a promotion position was slight Park never took their foot off the peddle . Park’s scores came regularly with trys in the first half from Centre Angus Buckman (2), Nick Dundee (2) Scrum Half Will Edwards (2) Right Wing Jerome Isles. Flanker Sonny Monaghan and Fullback Olly Daly. Park led 63-0 at halftime.
In the second half further trys came from Angus Buckman. Nick Dundee. Prop Nikas Kravcenko. Fly Half Sean Martyn. Jerome Isles. Acting Skipper Lock forward Connor Underwood and finally replacement winger Kyle Chalkley. Nick Dundee converted 15 of the 16 trys to give Park a final score of 110-7
At the end of the game Park’s Head Coach, Tom Edmunds, stood down after an eight year tenure in the post. Tom has been an inspirational figure and at the heart of all playing matters at Stockwood Park in that time. The Club wishes him well with his future.
Park’s 2nd XV defeated Biggleswade 39-7 and the Park Women’s xv beat St Neots by 67-5 to complete a memorable day for all at Stockwood Park RFC.
Next Friday evening, May 1st, under floodlights, Stockwood Park RFC play neighbours Luton RFC in the final of the Bedfordshire Senior Shield. 7.45pm KO. A large crowd is expected for this local derby.
