Match Report: SPRFC 1XV 49 – 19 St Neots

Stockwood Park RFC achieved their 11th  league win of the season on Saturday, this time against  St Neots RFC ,  securing victory  by  45 -19 in another high scoring game in which Park scored 7 well taken trys.  St Neots touched down for  3 trys of their own.

On this occasion Park started the game with intent, soon establishing a 31-0 lead before halftime.  They  then faltered, allowing St Neots back into the game before stretching away again to secure a deserved victory.

For Park their back row of No 8 Michael Powell and Flankers Dan Loft and Sonny Monaghan were prominent with lock forward and, man of the match, Connor Underwood in complete control in the lineout. In the backs Skipper and scrum half Frank Daly scored 2 well taken trys and alongside his Fly Half Sean Martyn, was busy in defence.

In the first half Park’s try scorers were No 8 Michael Powell.

Their strong running left wing Jerome Isles and their  halfbacks Frank Daly ( 2) and Sean Martyn. Centre Nick Dundee kicked one conversion before leaving the field with an injury.  Sean Martyn  took over the kicking and added  a further 2  conversions. St Neots touched down themselves just before halftime to make the score 31-7.

Park then relaxed, their error and penalty count increased and the scoring in the second half was 2 trys each.  The extras were added by Fly Half Sean Martyn.  St Neots scored 2 trys of their own through their speedy backs,  leaving the final score 45-19 to  Park who maintain their promotion challenge.

For Park trys were scored by replacement Centre Alfie Daly and by replacement Flanker Kieran Taylor.
