It’s a big weekend at Stockwood Park RFC with a local derby on Saturday for the 1XV in their first home game of the season against local rivals Dunstablians. The long standing tradition of the ladies at the club sponsoring the first home game continues with a fantastic afternoon of entertainment both on and off pitch.
With the 2XV also up against local rivals Dunstablians and both games kicking off at 3:00pm it’s looking to be a festival of rugby from mid-afternoon with Park 1XV looking to establish their place on the League tables.
Ladies Day kicks off at 1:00pm on Saturday with a glass of prosecco on arrival for ticket holders, followed by a buffet and then the rugby followed by Cocktail Mixing lessons from our professional Mixologist. Non ticket holders and visitors are welcome to attend with a full bar available to all from 1:00pm with some ‘buffet only’ tickets still available from the bar.
The kitchen will be open for the usual burgers, bacon rolls, tea, coffee etc from 11am on the Saturday, a little earlier than usual as the kitchen fairies will be busy preparing the buffet from this time.
On Sunday morning the U16s are away at Northampton Casuals with an 11:00am kickoff, the Colts are at home on Sunday to Leighton Buzzard, also an 11:00am kickoff. With the kitchen open from 9:30am and providing those hangover recovery bacon rolls it’s an ideal way to recover from the excesses of Ladies Day and grab some fresh air while watching the Colts game on the Sunday morning.
The bar opens at 12:00pm on Sunday just in time to oil the wheels of the Colts post match analysis conversation from our local rugby affecionados. Once game strategy and tactics from the weekend’s games have been ‘resolved’ our pundits will move on to tackling world peace and famine in Africa. The U.N. have already been in contact.
The minis section will be practicing at home on Sunday morning.
