Stockwood Park maintained their unbeaten position at the top of the League with what was eventually a comfortable bonus point victory over St Neots. The score line however does not reflect a determined defensive display by the visitors in the second half which restricted Park to just one further score after turning round with a 21 – 3 lead at halftime.
Despite a few changes in selection Park soon settled into their game and took the lead after 10 minutes with a try from number 8 Will Bennett. Brandon Lewsey added the extras. Further forward pressure released Park’s backs for right wing James Brennan to score wide out, converted by Lewsey with a fine kick. St Neots then kicked a penalty before just ahead of halftime Park’s debutant Full back, Rob Jack, scored a brilliant individual try, scything through the visitors defence to score under the posts for Lewsey to convert.
Park started the second half with a rush and scored their bonus point fourth try through lock forward Conor Underwood to take the score to 26 -3 before the visitors scored their own converted try to make the score 26-10 and then frustrate Park with some committed defence.
This week Park travel to Huntingdon RFC for their next league fixture.
Park’s 2nd XV completed a winning double for the club with a hard fought 14-12 victory over Northampton Old Scouts RFC.
