With Peterborough Lions unable to field a full strength side, Stockwood Park were awarded a home walkover and the 5 points for the win. To their credit, Lions still sent an understrength side to play a friendly fixture allowing plenty of entertainment for the Park’s sponsors who were hosted on the day.
In a somewhat one-sided affair played at a fast pace, Park’s backline showed their ability and were responsible for the majority of their 14 tries. Teenager Matthieu Degou led the way with 4 tries with fellow speedy wing Jerome Isles and skipper Frank Daly adding two more each. Lions contributed to an entertaining game and their try in the second half was typified their spirited performance and was well deserved.
Park second XV suffered a rare merit table defeat going down 26-24 at Biggleswade.
Stockwood Park resume their league programme on Saturday 10thJanuary when they visit Rugby Lions, buoyed by the return of Alfie Daly to the squad after injury. Park women restart a week later on 18th January at home to Aylesbury.
