Match Report: SPRFC 1XV 27 – 12 Northampton Casuals

Jack Brooks, past Skipper and consistently high performer in the Back Row and 2nd Row over a number of seasons for Stockwood Park, played his 200th league game on Saturday as he helped Park to an important bonus point victory away from home at Northampton Casuals.

Park scored some excellent trys and produced some good team play but their concentration occasionally let them down as some frail defence  allowed the competitive Casuals back into the game on a number of occasions.

For Park their Flankers Dan Loft and Reece Sweeney were prominent, combining well just after halftime for Loft to score a crucial try and in the backs Winger Kyran Ryan scored two well taken trys with Centre Sean Martyn prominent in both defence and attack, moving seamlessly to Fly Half when Angus Buckman left the field with a shoulder injury at halftime.

Park took an early lead when Winger Kyran Ryan finished off a skilful handling movement in the backs with Nick Dundee adding the extras.  Casuals levelled the scores with their own try before right wing Jerome Isles scored on halftime.

The start of the second half proved crucial to Park as first flankers Croft and Sweeney combined for Dan Loft to score before Kyran Ryan added his second try with an excellent finish. Nick Dundee added one conversion and a penalty to make the score 27-7  before Casuals added their own 2nd try leaving Park with a 27-12 victory.

Park remain unbeaten in the league after 3 games and travel to St Neots RFC next Saturday.  3pm KO.

Park’s 2nd XV continue their excellent Merit Table season with a 43- 5 win over Ampthill RFC
