Code of conduct for spectators
- Remember that children play sports for their own fun. They are not there to entertain you and they are not miniature ‘pro’ athletes.
- Be on your best behaviour. Don’t use profane language or harass players, coaches or referees. Do not encourage aggression or retaliation.
- Applaud good play by your team’s opponents. Without them there would be no game.
- Never ridicule or scold a child for making a mistake during the game.
- Condemn the use of violence in all forms.
- Any spectator making inappropriate verbal comments to the referee, players or other spectators, including taunting, may be asked to leave the playing arena.
- Any member of the club not conforming to the Codes of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action.
- Any non-member not conforming to the Codes of Conduct may be asked to leave the premises/playing area and be permanently barred after review by the committee.
- Always respect the referee’s decision.
- Spectators, including coaching staff, may not enter the field of play at any time for any reason. Medical/First Aid personnel for purposes of treating an injured player are exempt from this rule. Infringement of this rule may result in up to a lifetime ban from all rugby clubs in the UK.
- Remain behind the spectator barrier should these be in place. Failure to respect the barriers may result in you being asked to leave the playing area.
- Encourage players to play according to the laws.
