Matchday News for Saturday 8th November

Tomorrow we meet Rushden & Higham , who currently sit in fifth place in our league, one place and six points below Stockwood Park. Rushden have won three, and lost two of their league matches. Our record is won four, and lost one. On our last league outing we lost narrowly at home to Oundle, and we will be looking to build upon what was an outstanding performance, against much-vaunted opposition. Rushden, on the other hand, will be smarting still from their 73-7 defeat in September at London Road, in the national cup competition. We can expect a much stiffer test at Manor Park tomorrow.

The first time that we met Rushden was in Midlands 4 East (South), in September 2002, when we lost 18-31 at Manor Park. Since then, we have met a further 21 times, including September’s cup encounter. Stockwood Park have won 13 of those matches, Rushden 7, and there were two draws in the 2017-18 season.

The bar opens at Rushden at 12.00, but there is no indication that food will be available. Hopefully, our Immediate Past President will be able to suggest an appropriate hostelry for a gathering of the travelling faithful.

We hope to see some  of you at Rushden tomorrow, when we will hopefully get our league campaign back on the winning trail with kickoff at 2:15pm.
