With no league fixture for the 1st XV last Saturday, Stockwood Park’s 2nd XV, unbeaten in their Merit Table so far this season, took centre stage at Park’s London Road ground with a thrilling 24-19 victory over 2nd in the league, Milton Keynes.
Park were comfortably ahead at halftime by 17 points to 3 and looking like achieving another victory, but the visitors came storming back to take a 19-17 lead with 5 minutes to go.
At this juncture Colt Will Edmunds, who had already scored an outstanding individual try in the first half, moved quickly to the ball, took a quick tap penalty and dived over to secure his second and Park’s winning score. Fly Half Matt Jones secured the extras.
Skipper Dan Hooper has generated an excellent spirit in the side and Park were deserving winners.
Next Saturday Park’s 1st XV return to League action away at Rushden & Higham RFC KO 2.15pm
