2XV great start to season

Video footage from the 2XV game vs Daventry on Saturday. A game that started in miserable wet conditions with the 2XV struggling initially to move the greasy ball around. Park changed tactics and moved with the shorter passes after struggling for 15 minutes and this proved to be the turning point with Park breaking the Daventry defence several times after that to rack up a good win.

The breakthrough came, when a slightly misplaced pass from Bishop to the newly appointed fly half Leandro, fell to the feet of the matured inside centre Hooper. Even at the fine age of 34 was able to side step the oncoming defence of two Daventry players to then find himself a huge gap on the blindside. With this Hooper, put the foot to pedal and sliced through, finding himself inside 22, with Harnett screaming in support on the near touchline. With this support Hooper was able to square the Daventry Full back and throw a classic Spanky style feint pass and side step to his right, to casually put the ball down under the posts. Leaving Taylor to easily convert the extras.

Daventry pressed and tested Park’s defence several times during the remainder of the game and on more than one occasion had Park pinned back in their own 25, but with solid defence Park comfortably prevented Daventry from crossing ending the game at 29-0.

Other try scorers: Bennett, Peacock, Harnett and Watkins with Taylor converting 2.
